Soul Whispers

Pinterest image

I know I need the light

forgetting and forgiving can bring

But the valleys of my scars

cut too deep,

the peaks too naive

The pastels of the sunrise

wash across my dry lips

promising an oasis, but fear

whispers relentlessly,

it is only a mirage

I refuse to beg and plead

for I know that makes us bleed

But my soul calls to you

to not surrender, as I reach

for you, my love

  1. Beautifully done. I find the last stanza to be quite interesting in a way too… “but my soul calls to you to not surrender…”. Why not surrender?

      1. Ahhh, well, that makes sense then and it can be taken multiple ways for sure. The beauty of poetry is often in the interpretation.
