Sweet Sadness

Molasses melancholy clings to my skin

Silent acceptance soon sets in

Acrid sweetness stings as I breathe

No heartbeat with a rhythm to recognize

I count spring’s last gasps until love’s demise

*Revived and revised a poem I wrote in 2015.  No matter the year, the themes never change.
